August 2009 STAR summary

CST Percent Proficient Trend Analysis Report reveals the following data from the 2009 STAR testing for our students.  Great reasons to celebrate everyone's hard work.  Thanks for making Hope great!

We have 80% of students in grades 2-5 proficient or advanced in English Language Arts (ELA). This is a 5% increase over last year.
Our 2nd grade reported a 2% increase in ELA over last year (82% vs. 80%).
Our 3rd grade reported a 3% increase in ELA over last year (80% vs. 77%).  No student in the 3rd grade was far below basic.
Our 4th grade increased 9% in ELA over last year 84% vs. 75%.
Our 5th grade increased 5% in ELA over last year 75% vs. 70%.

Math CST Summary:
We have 82% of our students in grades 2-5 proficient or advanced on the Math CST for 2009 (2.8% increase in the number of advanced students).
Grade 2    88% proficient or advanced in math.
Grade 3    85% proficient or advanced in math (increased advanced by 2%).
Grade 4    84% proficient or advanced in math • a 3.5% increase over last year (they also increased the number of advanced students by 18% • 65% students are advanced).
Grade 5    75% proficient or advanced in math (this is a 2% increase over last year).

Science (5th grade only)  75% proficient or advanced (this is a 7% increase over last year).

May 2009 Data Summary

On the mid-year math benchmark, our 1st grade school average was the best in the district in four out of five categories.

Our 1st grade students currently have the 2nd highest average reading level scores in the district (CHES is higher).

91% of our 2nd grade students scored proficient or higher on the mid-year English/Language Arts (ELA) benchmark.

91% of 3rd grade students scored proficient or higher on the spring ELA benchmark.

95% of 3rd grade students scored proficient or higher on the mid-year math benchmark.

Hope 3rd grade students recorded the highest average ELA mid-year assessment score in the district (4.24 out of 5).

91% of our 4th grade students scored proficient/advanced on the spring ELA benchmark.

Students in grades 3-5 averaged a 21% increase over the previous year on the Fall Benchmark assessment and an 8% increase over the previous year on the Spring Benchmark assessment.
